A shocking incident in Hillsborough County has led to an eight-year-old pup being rushed to an emergency vet after being attacked by an alligator. The pup in question – a black Labrador named Joey – had been just entering the water near the fishing dock in Bridgewater when he was suddenly dragged into the water.
Leslie Hopkins, Joey’s Mom, and her young son, were in complete shock! Somehow, Joey was able to wrestle his way free and head back to safety. Joey was hurriedly brought to a Blue Pearl clinic, and there were a large number of scary puncture wounds. Luckily, the pup is fine now, but his bill amounted to over $1,500.
Apparently, this alligator has been in the pond for many years, but has never been aggressive. Neighbors have been warning their kids to stay away from the body of water, but they rarely listen, so Leslie has contacted SNAP to request removal of the reptile by a trapper, but unfortunately, a permit from the management of the pond is needed.
