Family Wanted To Euthanize Their Beagle, But He Got Adopted Instead!

Late January a family went to the vet with their 12 year old beagle pup for a very cruel reason. They had brought him to the clinic and wanted him to be put down because they were “tired of his hair” and didn’t want him anymore.

That’s right – according to Sandy Smith, a Secondhand Mutts board member, they wanted the vet to euthanize their senior fur ball just because they couldn’t stand his hair anymore. “The owners wanted what she (the vet) called a ‘convenience euthanasia,'” Smith added. But instead of putting him to sleep, he was sent to Secondhand Mutts, a rescue group in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood.

But within a matter of time, this 12 year old beagle, renamed Wiz (short of Wizard of Wags), was adopted! Becca Riker, Secondhand Mutts President and Founder, said, “We were overwhelmed with inquiries, phone calls, emails and adoption applications. We responded to as many (inquiries) as we could and knew we could find a forever home for this happy-go-lucky beagle who had hundreds of shares on social media outlets.” Take a look at Wiz on page 2 below!
