Ukrainian firefighters found a puppy and adopted him while searching through the rubble in the Kiev district of Kharkiv after heavy shelling by the Russian invaders. They named the pup “Bayraktar”, but everyone calls him “Bai”.
The news was shared on Facebook by the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine. They disclosed that although Bai does not have an official title yet, he is the mascot of the fire station and gets paid a robust salary of sausages and goodies. Since joining the firefighters in Kharkiv, Bai has brought comfort and joy to the crew when they are out on a call.
“The fire department employee has significantly increased in height and weight in two months. Every day Bai learns to work in the fire and rescue department. So far, he manages to guard the object entrusted to him well. When the combat guard promptly leaves the scene, the dog escorts them with its barking and gladly welcomes them when they return back,” the SES shared.
Many people from around the world reacted to the post by thanking the firefighters for rescuing Bai, while some commented on how adorable the dog he is.
“Well done, guys! Now you have both your bodyguard, and a friend, and a doctor-antistressologist.” one person wrote.
