Florida Made It Legal For People To Break Into Cars To Save People And Pets!

If you live in Florida you are now legally allowed to break into cars if you see a person or a sweltering fur ball locked inside and unable to get out. This is the best news EVER!

The House Bill 131 was recently signed by Republican Governor Rick Scott that allows Floridians to break into locked cars to rescue animals or vulnerable people who are unable to get out and those who are “in imminent danger of suffering harm.” This bill was passed due to the growing incidents of people who were still leaving their pets or children inside their cars, of which many have died because they were left locked in overheated cars.

If you, who live in Florida, are faced with a situation where you see a vulnerable person or a pup inside a locked car, here’s what you need to do. First you have to check if the vehicle is locked. Then you have to call 911 or your local law enforcement before entering the vehicle or immediately after rescuing the person or pet. Finally remain with the person or pet until first aid responders arrive. For more information about how hot a car can get in just 20 minutes, check out the video on page 2 below.
