For The First Time Ever, This Shelter Actually Adopted Out All It's Furry Residents!

Shelters are often packed with animals looking for homes, and they’re pretty much always busy, which is what can make the environment so stressful for pups. There’s rarely ever a quiet animal shelter in the world! But in this one shelter, it has finally fallen silent.

Harrison County Animal Control Shelter has been in operation for a whopping 13 years, and it is the first time in its entire history that all the pets have been adopted and found a home. Thrilled, the shelter announced the news on their Facebook page, where it went viral, with hundreds of likes and shares on Facebook and several tens of thousands doing the same on Reddit!

The shelter attributes its successful emptying out of its kennels to the social media community, as they post about available pets regularly on their feed, which leads to them being shared by their followers. Eventually, the animal posted finds a home, and the shelter recognizes the amazing things that social media has done for each pet’s visibility!

For those who can’t adopt pets, this means that even liking and sharing a shelter’s post can help a pet find their forever home. Every small act of kindness counts and helps, and we have the tireless shelter staff and volunteers and their entire community on social media for this historic milestone!
