Former Puppy Mill Dog Finally Gets To Live The Life She's Always Dreamed Of

The Norristown Fire Department in Pennsylvania has a new honorary member! Her name is Victoria, and she is a ten-year-old German Shepherd!

Look, she even has her very own fan club! What makes this dog so special? Well, she was rescued from a puppy mill and sadly, she is very sick. Victoria’s foster mom, Grace Kelly Herbert, is making sure Victoria has the love she missed out on for the first few years of her existence.

Victoria’s life began in a puppy mill just outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania – she her whole life there. He wanted to throw her out. Victoria’s life was bleak. She lived outside, gave birth to an unknown number of litters, and had never even seen a dog toy.

Her foot was run over by a lawnmower, and another dog bit her in the face. So, she has a deformed paw and is blind in one eye. The puppy mill owner made a lot of money from the puppies, and when Victoria was too old to have any more, he was ready to dump her.

Herbert, co-founder of Finding Shelter Animal Rescue, rescued Victoria. But Victoria didn’t trust people and only growled and barked at her. After about three weeks, Victoria started to trust people.

Then she started to show the signs of degenerative myelopathy, a spinal cord disease that causes the dog’s back legs to be weak. It eventually causes paralysis. Veterinarian believe that Victoria has about one year left.
