Meet Scout, an adorable German Shepherd Dog puppy that just loves leaping into his baby chair at dinner time! But it’s no coincidence that he likes getting in this chair. In fact, this is where Scout has all his meals – 3 times a day.
Scout was rescued at just 10 weeks old. The breeder knew something was wrong when he couldn’t keep food down, so they gave him to this loving family to give him the TLC he needs. In this video Scout is now 16 weeks old, eating a combination of Blue Buffalo puppy wet food, kibble, water, salmon oil, and a probiotic enzyme to help with his condition. He’s fed from an ice cube tray to make sure he doesn’t eat too quickly. Slow eating makes it easier for him to keep the food down. Eventually, as Scout grows, he will move up to an adjustable bailey chair which will grow with him, but right now, being so little, this little baby walker is perfect for him!
After each meal, he sits in his chair for about 30 minutes to help in digestion. His parents report this techniques has enabled him to keep 90-95% of his food down the majority of the time which is great news for a puppy with his condition!
Scout’s condition is called congenital megaesophagus, a condition that effects the oesophagus and makes it difficult to feed and keep food down but he seems to be doing pretty well thanks to his family.
