About two weeks ago, a German shepherd watched his human leave for work one night as usual. Everything seemed normal at the time, but sadly, that would be the last time he saw him.
What nobody expected was that night, his owner, a convenience store clerk would be killed by a pair of armed robbers.
Every day since then has been a marathon of greeting each car that drives into the apartment complex, just to see if one of them contains his best friend. “When he would realize that it was not his owner’s car,” says Cassandra Eubanks, who lives nearby, “he would just stand there and look helpless.” Until now, the dog had tried frantically to find his person who never came home, reports ABC. Neighbors report this has just been one of the most heartbreaking sights – he doesn’t know his human is gone.
He’s been spotted wandering around the apartment complex, and waiting by his apartment door, wondering when his dad will return home. In this heartbreaking story, thankfully, one woman and her dog stepped in to lend him some comfort. She used her dog to gain his trust, moving slow, and eventually being able to leash him and bring him home with her. She says she will foster him for a week until the victim’s brother will take him.
