A stray dog in India will live longer and more comfortably, thanks to some Good Samaritans who recognized the seriousness of his condition and decided to help him. The dog was suffering from severe mange and was in so much pain.
When the Good Samaritans saw how much pain the dog was in, they caught him, held him in their car, and called rescuers with Animal Aid Unlimited for help.
The Animal Aid Unlimited described the Good Samaritans catching the dog as "profoundly important." According to the rescue, "mange dogs are often difficult to catch." With the difficult part out of the way, the rescue went straight into treating the dog, later named Powder.
Mange is a skin condition caused by mites and is common in stray dogs. It is a horrible, painful condition but can be treated effectively. Powder's case was so severe that he was already on the brink of death when the rescue started treating him. They gave him medicated baths to help with the scabs and food to help him regain his strength.
It took some time, and lots of care before the scabs disappeared from Powder's body and his fur began to grow back. Soon, the pup was transformed into a brand new dog.
