Great Dane Gets Adopted For Helping To Foster Orphaned Puppies And Kittens

Great Danes are huge dogs, but despite their intimidating size, they are such gentle souls. If you have been around one, you must understand why they are often called "gentle giant."

One Great Dane, Shelby, recently became a member of a family after her foster parent saw how kind she was to some orphaned puppies and kittens.

Shelby was surrendered by her family to a shelter in California when she was only 8 months old. Shirley Zindler from the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project decided to foster Shelby and took her into her home.

At the foster home, Shelby met some puppies Shirley was also fostering. However, despite the size difference between the pups and Shelby, she was always sweet to them. When Shirley took note of Shelby's gentle nature, she couldn't help but keep her permanently.

It didn't take long for Shelby to go from being a foster dog to a foster mum as she helped Shirley look after every little dog she brought home. Shelby wasn't sweet with puppies alone but also had a fantastic relationship with kittens.

One of the problems puppies and kittens face is adjusting to a foster home. With Shelby around, it's a lot easier as she spends most of her days helping everyone learn the ropes and adjust to their new life.
