Halloween Is Just Around The Corner, But It May Not Excite Your Pups Much

Trick or treat time is upon us. Many of our children will put on a costume and run around the neighborhood collecting free candy. Let us not get started about the impending sugar rushes and cavities!

But, did you ever stop to think how disruptive Halloween is to your pet? The noise, the kids, the added doorbell ringing! Not to mention the motion activated decorations that bring people such joy! Some pets will see these ‘new’ things as exciting or an adventure – others will be rather scared and anxious. To keep your pet safe this Halloween, consider putting them in a crate in a room that is far from the hustle and bustle.

That will be safer for your pet and the neighborhood kids! Do not leave your dog outdoors, they may escape and hurt someone, or a prankster could harm them in some way. Once Halloween is over, be sure to keep your dog away from all the goodies! Sugar and chocolate are toxic and can be deadly to dogs! Keep your trash cans secure since the holiday treats are wrapped in foil, which may be appealing to your dog – but if swallowed, can cause intestinal distress.

As the holiday season fast approaches, and temperatures fall, keep open flames well out of your dog – or cat’s reach! If you are having a holiday party, be sure that your guests don’t indulge your fur baby with too many rich treats! Keep your family safe this holiday season! Hold one – the holidays are coming!
