If there is one thing that’s true about pretty much every dog, it’s that they know how to enjoy life. This gorgeous black Labrador is out with his human on a cool day and because he is a Lab, the pooch starts to frolic as soon as they arrive at the field.
See the silly Lab rejoice by rolling and squirming on the grass before standing up again and kicking it all over the place! This Labrador’s silly antics and happy face are simply priceless!
At 21 months old, the lab is pretty much filled out and coming into his own doing a whole lot of kicking in this fun new place! But why do dogs kick up grass, anyway?
According to the AKC, “Many people think that when their dogs tear at the ground with their back feet after they have urinated or defecated that they’re trying to cover up the mess, just as a cat might. This is not true.
What the dog is doing when it scrapes frantically at the ground is symbolically marking the territory.
The deposition of urine and feces, in and of itself, can represent a territorial mark not only for dogs but also for just about all domestic species. So when a dog finds just the right place and he performs his duty, subsequently scratching the ground in the immediate vicinity with his hind feet, he is actually sending a double message: “I was conclusively was here, according to what you are seeing and smelling.” Who knew?
