Put yourself in Bob’s shoes. He has been in a shelter for two years and all of his friends and companions were adopted, except him.
Bob was found in April of 2019 and was taken into the RSPCA. There, he overcame many of his fears and learned to be a good boy. Unfortunately, his wait has been 775 days because he seemed harder to handle than other dogs. Plus, with the pandemic putting the world at a standstill, there were fewer visits to the shelter by potential forever families.
In his time at the shelter, he’s seen 221 dogs get chosen instead of him. This is not only discouraging to Bob, but also the loving staff who helped to prepare him for a new home. A staffer with the RSPCA, Jake Cowing, praised him for his change and development over the years.
When he was brought in, he was scared of using a leash and a crate. Today, Bob can walk on a long leash and isn’t uneasy anymore. However, he prefers running free and his ideal family should have a big enough yard where he can roam unleashed. He would also be better off in a home where there are no kids.
Bob is an ‘absolute sweetheart’ according to Cowing and he loves to play. He may take a while to trust others, but once acquainted, he is the most loyal companion there is. The RSPCA is willing to work with Bob’s forever parents, and wish to offer any support and training he may need. All he needs is a chance since he’s worked so hard to overcome his fears.
After spending more than two-thirds of his life in a shelter, it’s more than time for him to get a home of his own. In fact, it’s overdue.
