[HEALTH ALERT] Small Amount Of Dog Treats Recalled By Boulder Dog Food Company For Risk Of Salmonella.

If you have a dog who gets dog treats from the Boulder Dog Food Company, this is a MUST READ. Save your dogs.

Recently it was announced that Boulder Dog Food Company LLC of Boulder, CO, has recalled it’s dog treats, namely it’s Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) with a “Best By” date of “05/04/16”, a Lot Number of “998”, and a UPC Code of 899883001231. The reason behind the recall was because according to the company, this specific product has the potential of being contaminated with Salmonella. According to Wikipedia, Salmonella can “cause illnesses such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and food poisoning.” This is what the contaminated product looks like:

Approximately 10 packets of these dog treats were distributed to two retail stores in Colorado, one in Washington and one in the State of Maryland.

According to the company, eight packets have been retrieved and two are yet to be retrieved, therefore, it is believed that two, which are remaining, are either used or destroyed. If you have the recalled product, you are advised to discontinue use of the product and return the contaminated product either to the retailer you purchased it from or directly to Boulder Dog Food Company.

During a routine sampling program by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, one package of Chicken Sprinkles (3 oz.) with a “Best By” date of “05/04/16”, a Lot Number of “998”, and a UPC Code of 899883001231, tested POSITIVE for Salmonella. Pets who consume Salmonella may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets experience decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If your pets are showing these symptoms, contact your veterinarian immediately.
