Heartbroken And Severely Neglected Pup Was So Afraid Of People She Never Left Her House

Bella the husky’s life didn’t start out well. Born in New Zealand to an irresponsible breeder, she lived neglected and in awful conditions. When she did get out and find her way into a home, she didn’t get along very well with the resident dog there and wound up surrendered to a rescue group called Husky Rescue NZ.

Coming into the rescue, Bella was completely scared out of her mind of virtually everyone. She didn’t trust people, likely due to her awful experiences growing up. She would run to her kennel and hide in the back whenever people approached. At first, it seemed like her journey to trusting humans would be very long. But then came a man named Simon Evans.

Evans came in after work to volunteer with the rescue. Usually, his job was to help get the more active pups their needed exercise. One of the pups named Noct had come from the same place Bella had, and he was equally shy and nervous. Evans was able to make him open up and befriended the pup, and he soon made it his personal goal to win over Bella the same way.

Evans slowly began to start taking both Noct and Bella out for runs with the help of a fellow volunteer. It took a while, but her personality slowly began to emerge. She started getting excited when she saw her dog-walkers, and she eventually bonded with Noct and became friends with him. Their companionship helped them progress even further and faster, and they became inseparable.

Evans had a deal with the shelter. He was planning to move away soon. The agreement was that if Noct had progressed enough by then, he would adopt the pup and bring him along. When the time came, it wasn’t just Noct who had improved enough, but Bella, too. Evans knew he couldn’t separate these two pups, so he decided to adopt them both. It was one of his best decisions!

Today, Noct and Bella have been with Evans for one and a half years. They go on daily runs and snuggle together in bed every night. They are now wonderfully trusting, happy, and relaxed.

Evans had never planned to adopt, ever – but bringing Noct and Bella into his life has made him realize he would have been missing out, big time!
