Heartbroken Dog Finds The 'Bestest' Friend To Help Him Heal Again

When Buttons was first rescued by the A Chance to Bloom Rescue from a high-kill Texas shelter, the pup was presented to them in a wheelbarrow, and it looked like he might not even be able to walk.

A trip to the vet revealed that Buttons, who was 3 at the time, had a head that was permanently tilted, so his head was always cocked to one side. It could have been due to a genetic defect, or it could have been the result of growing up in a too-cramped space.

After making sure he was healthy and had everything he needed to continue healing, the rescue brought him back to their shelter. But the pup was sad and lonely. That’s when the shelter got the idea to introduce him to a friend.

Grace, two at the time, was another pup who had been brought in as a stray. One of her legs had been amputated following a car accident, and she had come a long way and healed so much, yet no one was adopting her, and she was lonely too.

Buttons and Grace hit it off immediately when their crates were placed next to each other, and it became clear to the shelter’s staff that the two pups needed to share the same space. Since then, they’ve done everything together and are never apart. They even cry when they’re not together!

The pups have yet to be adopted, and the staff would love to have them adopted together. People are often worried that they’ll have too many medical requirements, but they don’t have any more than a “normal” dog, and they’re both great with kids. They can’t wait to find their forever home together and continue their lives as best friends forever.

If you’d like to adopt these two pups into your home, fill out the shelter’s adoption form here!
