Thinking of giving your dog some oils? You’re not alone. Many oils are known to be good for canine health. Here are 5 of them.
Flaxseed Oil
This oil is good for dogs who are allergic to fish. It’s full of nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids. You can also opt for ground flaxseeds to give your dog extra protein; baking them into treats for your dog is a great idea. Senior dogs may gain energy from consuming flaxseed.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has tons of benefits. It can be applied topically but is also safe for your dog to eat. Start with small amounts – just one teaspoon in their food – and work your way up till you’re giving them one tablespoon per 30 pounds of body weight.
Olive Oil
This oil is famous for its health benefits. Add some extra-virgin olive oil to a dog’s treats or food to give them vitamin E, fatty acids, and more. Their fur and skin will shine!
Fish Oil
Not only is fish oil a very healthy form of fat, but it’s also a treatment for virtually everything. It helps prevent odd cell growth, makes fur and skin healthier, and fights inflammation that can cause joint pain.
Krill Oil
Unlike fish oil, krill oil is absorbed much more quickly. But it still has similar benefits to fish oil!
Remember, before giving any of these to your dog, check with a vet first and always look up recommended dosages!
