Here Are Tips To Bathing Your Puppy For The First Time!

Puppies aged 8 weeks and older are going to need their first baths! Here are some tips for bathing your puppy that can make the process easier.

Get Them Used To It Early

Start bathing your puppy as young as possible. This can help them get used to it so they don’t throw a big fuss when they’re older!

Pick A Good Spot

For small puppies, a sink is a great option, but you can also use a kiddie pool or even just a hose. Let them stand on a non-slip mat so they feel secure.

Prepare First

Get everything you need first, like shampoo and supplies, and don’t leave your puppy unattended in their bath location – unless you want to chase them around!

Rinse Well

Use the right puppy shampoo and make sure to rinse it all off. If you miss some, you’ll wind up with leftover shampoo that causes itching, flaking, and dryness.

Have Fun

Give your dog toys, reward them with praise and treats, and shower them with love and affection. They’re more likely to be more cooperative if you make baths fun!

Look Out For Shaking!

Dogs dry themselves off by shaking vigorously. Towel dry them first to prevent this so your walls don’t get splattered. Use a hair drying on a cool or warm setting to help, if they’re okay with the noise!
