A dog is as much a part of the family as any blood-related human, and that’s probably why lots of couples want to make their dog a part of their wedding. If you want to do the same, here’s what to do.
Consider Their Temperament
Is your dog suited for being at a wedding? Are they confident in crowds, in noisy situations, or with strangers?
Consider Your Ceremony
Will your dog have to listen to loud music or soft music? Will it be indoors or outdoors? Will it be very big and boisterous or small and quiet? How long will your dog have to wait?
Consider Their Role
What will your dog’s role be at the wedding? Will they simply walk down the aisle? Will they be a ringbearer? Or will they just sit silently? Remember that your dog will need training and the right tools for more complex roles.
Consider Where Your Dog Will Go Next
After their role is done, and after the ceremony, where will your dog go? What will they do?
Do Lots Of Training
Your dog will need to rehearse for the wedding. It’s a good idea for them to have a designated handler to be with them throughout the course of the wedding to make sure it goes smoothly and their muscle memory does the work for them.
