Here's The Reason Why Your Dogs Won't Stop Licking You! You'll Be Surprised!

Our dogs communicate with us with their actions, and we need to learn what those actions mean to have a meaningful connection with them.

One behavior that many dogs have is licking you. Ever wonder why they do that? There are several theories. One theory is that it is a form of social bonding. Animals will groom each other as a sign of affection. Grooming strengthens pack and family bonds and parents, offspring, and other members of the family groom each other in the wild. When your dog licks you a hormone called oxytocin, which is linked to bonding and attachment, is released.

Simply put, licking you means that your dog loves and needs you. A second theory is that by licking you, the dog has accepted the fact that you are the alpha dog in the pack. So, your dog is telling you that he or she is glad that you are there and is letting you know that they are not challenging your position as pack leader. Third, licking helps to motivate teamwork!

When your dog licks you they may be trying to get you to join in with them as they play or try and find something to eat! Since your dog most often licks your face, some believe that it is a signal that they are hungry and are asking you to give them something to eat. For whatever reason your dog licks you, you can be sure that it is a good thing and that your dog is trying to tell you something!
