Here's Why Some Dogs Refuse to Let You Off Their Sight

Some dogs have a tendency to become scared or anxious when you are not near them. And no matter how cute it is to have your dog follow you around, you don’t want to risk them becoming dependent on you. And you want to make sure that you can go to work, or go out, without your dog freaking out.

Some dogs are bred to be what is known as “Velcro dogs”. Pugs, Chihuahuas, Frenchies and Greyhounds, and even Golden Retrievers are meant to be companions. And German Shepards or Australian Cattle dogs are one-person dogs, which means they become attached to one person above everyone else. So, if they follow you around, chances are they don’t do it because they are anxious.

They do it because of their DNA. Your dog might also follow you simply because they love you. And, for some people, this is beneficial. Having your dog around all the time is a great way to reduce stress and help you fight depression. And your dog also benefits from the time you spend together. They can get to know you better, and their stress levels lower just as much as yours do.

Following becomes an issue when your dog refuses to interact with anyone else but you or refuses to be alone. This is a sign that they are dealing with issues like depression or anxiety. In that case, you need to start slowly socializing them. Spend a few minutes a day with other people and other dogs. And even make sure that they are alone for a short period every day.
