Here's Why You May See A Pup With A Scarf Wrapped Around Them

Having a dog with anxiety can be challenging. If their anxiety intensifies when you leave, during a storm, or on car rides, then you are likely in a very tough spot.

Maybe you have tried medications or other relaxation techniques. No matter what you do, your dog is stressed. But, there is something you can do to help make them feel more secure! The answer is called the “half wrap,” and all you will need is a scarf or a long piece of material, like an Ace bandage. To maximize the calming effect of the half wrap be sure to follow these helpful hints.

  1. Find a wrap that has your scent. Your dog will be soothed to have your scent near!
  2. You can’t force them to wear it. If wrapping your dog makes them more anxious, then don’t press the issue.
  3. You don’t want them to become too used to the wrap, (then when you need it most, it will not be effective) so only let them wear it for 10 – 15 minutes at a time.
  4. Be sure to always be with your pet when they have a half wrap on. The fabric may get snagged on something, or it could be a choking hazard.
  5. Other things you can do to help your anxious pet. Have a pillow with your scent on for them to snuggle with when you are away.
