When Cynthia Kingdon took her rescue pup, Aaron, out on a walk near their Massachusetts home, she didn’t expect that on that day, the pup would become a hero.
Aaron, who is 11 years old, was walking as usual when something caught his eye. He rooted himself in place and refused to move, staring at his Mommy, then to a nearby storm drain on the side of the road, with increasing urgency.
Knowing this unusual behavior meant something must be amiss, Kingdon walked over to the drain. She looked in and was immediately greeted by meowing cries. It was a cat, looking very much worse for wear, trapped in the drain. He was ten feet beneath them; impossible for Kingdom to reach on her own.
Kingdon quickly called the police, and a small crowd began to gather. One of the onlookers held a Missing Cat flyer that had a picture portraying the exact kit stuck beneath them. The cat’s name was Wiggles, and he’d been missing for ten days. It was a wonder he’d survived so long, and he likely wouldn’t have lasted much longer without access to food.
It wasn’t long before a sewer department agent and an officer with animal control arrived on the scene. They lifted Wiggles out and returned him to his rightful home! Wiggles’ parent even sent a thank you card to both Kingdon and Aaron, but Kingdon knows Aaron was the real hero that day!
