According to The Nest, “Research conducted by Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and others shows feeding your puppy sunflower seeds can improve his coat and skin. This is due to the fat and nutrients the tiny seeds contain.”

But are there any side effects? They continue to state that, “Sunflower seeds are generally considered a safe treat for you and your little guy. However, just like with many other foods, overindulgence can have some unpleasant side effects. If you feed too many to your pooch, it may cause diarrhea and intestinal distress. Weight gain may also be a problem if you consistently feed your nest pet lots of treats.”
