How Some People Honor Their Pets Who've Crossed The Rainbow Bridge

Rituals are very important for people. They help you commemorate important things in your life and even remember the ones you’ve lost. And they can help you mourn and honor the puppies you’ve lost.

It feels like just yesterday you brought home a curious, energetic little puppy, and now they’re grey, slow, tired, and in pain. When you lose a dog, you lose a member of your family, a best friend. You go from having a sweet, loving little being around, to having a quiet house. Even though death is a normal part of life, knowing that doesn’t make losing someone any easier.

When you are first faced with death, it’s easy for your thoughts to spiral out of control. But the best thing to get over that suffering is to try to commemorate their life. Instead of focusing on the fact that they are gone, try to find ways to stay positive and focus on all the beautiful memories you have of them.

Remembrance rituals are a great day to celebrate all the beautiful moments you had together. For some people, these rituals mean taking the time every day to take a walk around your dog’s favorite park and reminisce. For others, it means doing a service for the pet they lost, so that you can give them a proper goodbye. Even though not many people properly commemorate their animals, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Just like a funeral helps people honor a person they lost, a proper ceremony for your dog will do the same.
