Dogs sleep anywhere from 12 to 14 hours each day! The older they are, the more sleep they need, and young puppies may sleep more too as they grow and develop.
The position your dog sleeps in can tell you a lot about how they are feeling. If they sleep all curled up, they may be trying to stay warm. If they lay on their side, they are very comfortable, and you may notice their legs twitch as if they are dreaming! A dog laying all sprawled out on their stomach (aka the “Superman” position) is ready to hop up at any moment if something exciting happens.
If they sleep on their backs with their paws sticking up – they are very comfortable and have no cares at all in the world! They could also be a little warm and trying to cool off! Bow, the Labrador retriever pup is sleeping comfortably on his pillow – he has no worries!
