Stand up Paddle Board (SUP) is exactly what it sounds like, you stand up and paddle on a board. It is a little more complicated actually to do it, though!
SUP, wasn’t started by the Hawaiians, as many people think, instead fisherman have been standing on their boats for thousands of years! Then in the 17th century, in Venice, gondoliers paddled through the crowded canals! Hawaiians are credited for pioneering stand up paddle boarding for fun!
In the 1940s, according to supworldmag.com, Waikiki surf instructors Leroy and Bobby AhChoy and Duke Kahanamoku started SUP as a way to stay on their boards when a swell came in and to get a better view of the other surfers in the water. Okay, enough with the history lesson, let’s have some fun! In this video, a white German Shepherd is showing us how paddleboarding is done!
