How To Get Rid Of Dog Pee From Your Carpet

Potty training is one of the most important training you'd give your dog as soon as you bring them home. However, even after successfully teaching your dog to pee outside, there would be occasions when they might pee on your carpet. This could happen for several reasons, including an infection, old age, boredom, or anxiety.

Getting rid of the lingering urine smell on your carpet as soon as possible is important to prevent your dog from making peeing on the carpet a regular thing. Follow these steps to get rid of dog pee accidents:

  1. Soak up excess moisture with a towel.
  1. Apply 4 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide, 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water, and a few drops of dish soap onto the spot. If you don't have hydrogen peroxide, you can use white vinegar.
  1. Scrub the spot with a towel.
  1. Wait for 20 mins, then flush the spot with warm water and soak it with a towel.
  1. Sprinkle baking soda on the spot and leave it to absorb any lingering smell.

While the above solution would also eliminate dried dog pee from the carpet, it is best to use carpet-cleaning products in such situations.

If your potty-trained dog suddenly starts to urinate frequently on your carpet, you should talk to your veterinarian. Urination issues can signify an underlying health condition that needs to be dealt with immediately.
