How To Spot A Bad Breeder? Here Are Some Warning Signs To Look Out For

I’m sure as pet parents you already know that some breeders are completely evil, and all they care about is minting money and that’s all. Now its your turn to spot bad breeders so we can stop encouraging them.

Some breeders are so irresponsible that they fail to provide even the basics of the animals they keep. Let alone food or water, some animals don’t even have a place to sleep. While some pups end up becoming mentally ill because they’re living in filthy environments others just give up on life because they can no longer tolerate the humility or the cruelty.

These bad breeders, who are easy to spot, don’t know how to control breeding and it’s because of them that many fur balls end up on shelters and live the rest of their lives in pain from congenital illness. If puppies are ‘not perfect’ they re euthanized and the mother is forced to mate again. This cruelty has to stop and it can only stop if people learn to spot the bad breeders and stop encouraging them further. On page 2 below, we’ve laid out a few things you need to keep in mind when dealing with a breeder.

Here are some things you need to keep in mind to spot a bad breeder:

  • A bad breeder with have little to no knowledge about the breed, which means they won’t be concerned about producing puppies that are healthy.
  • Bad breeders will ignore or deny genetic defects therefore they will not screen their animals before mating thus leading to genetic defect in puppies.
  • Bad breeders wont allow their animals out of the cage and treat them like prisoners. If you visit a breeder and the environment looks like a prison, don’t engage them – they are bad breeders.
  • Bad breeders won’t allow you to observe the litter, the mother or the other puppies she had given birth to. They won’t even show you how their puppies were raised. If a breeder is only showing you a puppy he/she wants to sell and nothing else, it’s a bad breeder.
  • Bad breeders will have no documentation to show. They will have nothing to prove that they are registered and will not have papers to spell out the right and responsibilities of both parties. There’s nothing they can show to back up their health claims.
  • Bad breeders won’t understand the importance of nurture, love and care that a puppy needs from it’s mother. They will try to sell puppies that are less than seven weeks old which means they don’t understand the importance of socialization.

Now that you know how spot a bad breeder, SHARE this with your friends and we can all come together to stop their business. Animals are NOT things and shouldn’t be treated as toys.
