Riddick was first taken in by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC in 2015. He was rescued after being tossed out of a driving vehicle. Luckily, it wasn’t too long before the pit bull found a forever home with Bryan Junior and his wife, who fell in love the moment they saw his picture on social media. He became a part of their family in August 2015.
Just around a year later, there was a new addition to the family again – but not a furry one. It was Dawson, Junior and his wife’s newborn son. The moment they met him. Riddick and his fellow pit bull sibling Cambria loved him. Junior says that began to be referred to as the paw patrol, as they always wanted to care for Dawson.
The pups loved Dawson so much that whenever he cried, they would rush into the room to make sure he was okay. Junior and his wife would tell them when Dawson woke up from a nap and they would hurry in.
They even sat with him every single night, listening to his bedtime story with him – something they still do to this day, and they receive goodnight kisses from Dawson in thanks. It’s safe to say that Dawson loves the pups as much as they love him. He snuggles with them, climbs on them, and helps feed them.
Just a short while ago, though, Dawson wasn’t up to his usual fun. He had the flu, accompanied by a fever – the first time he’s been that sick. He felt so miserable he didn’t want to do anything or be with anyone. But Riddick was the exception.
Dawson crawled up onto an ottoman where Riddick was, and Riddick seemed to know he was feeling under the weather. So the two cuddled, Riddick holding his little human brother tightly, and after about half an hour they fell asleep together.
Riddick’s good temperament and loving nature have led Dawson to trust him completely, and it seems like that TLC did the trick! He’s now feeling much better, and Riddick remains by his side to play, hang out, and nap!
