Livia Global Inc Recalls Liquid Probiotic For Cats and Dogs

Medicine is necessary for a healthy life. This is true for both humans and animals. But medicine can have horrible side effects. Sometimes, if they don’t follow FDA regulations, companies are even forced to recall their products.

On December 1, 2021, two lots of liquid probiotics, one for humans and one for dogs, were recalled by Livia Global, Inc. The company decided to pull the products from the shelves voluntarily. This happened because of concerns regarding possible contamination by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The issue came to light after a 3rd party conducted some laboratory testing on the products.

According to the FDA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a microorganism that threatens infection in immunocompromised people and animals. It can cause infections in the blood, lungs, and other parts of the body. The bacteria constantly find ways to avoid the effects of antibiotics. In extreme cases, the bacteria can become multi-drug resistant.

Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported so far. The company issued a statement apologising for the inconvenience. They promise to continue investing in improving safety and quality. Their Chief Operations Officer promises that their top priority is to support and aid their customers.

The products with the Lot#001005-1 and Lot#010620-1 are the ones being recalled. The lot numbers can be found on the side of the bottle. If you have purchased any of these products, stop using them. Dispose of them as soon as possible. The company encourages customers to call Livia Global Customer Care and ask for a refund. They promise everyone will be refunded in full.
