After spending eight years away from her family, Hannah the beagle pup finally found her way back home.
Jeanie Rodgers adopted Hannah from the SPCA when the pup was just one year old. But then, a few short years later, she developed Alzheimer’s and had no choice but to move into an assisted living center, leaving Hanna behind. The pup was rehomed with a good family, and that was that.
But just last week, Hannah was found looking forlorn and ill on the side of the road. A staff member of Polk County Animal Control noticed her and had her taken in, where a quick microchip scan led back to the Rodgers – and to Jeanie’s son, Scott, and his wife Tammy. Scott didn’t quite remember Hannah, but Tammy immediately did and also remembered how important the pup was to Jeanie.
Scott and Tammy went to pick Hannah up, and they found out from the family she was supposed to be living with that Hannah’s life changed two years ago. The pup had been hit by a car and never returned home. They believed she had been lost for good, but the pup fought to survive, and eventually, she found her way back home – not to the home she was supposed to, perhaps, but to home nonetheless.
