Cheddar had been part of the same family for all eight years of his golden retriever life. But when one of his parents developed cancer, they had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to a shelter, praying he would find a good family soon.
And he did! Before long, Cheddar had a new home. His new family quickly discovered how needy the pup is, constantly demanding pets and attention, and always wanting to be around his family no matter what.
Then, one day, shortly after being adopted, he was out for a walk and he met an unlikely new best friend. A street over from his house, an elderly couple was sitting on their porch. Cheddar’s parent stopped to chat with them, and the pup immediately took a liking to one of the two, a woman named Jean.
They immediately had a connection, and since then, the pup has insisted on going back to see her every day. It’s now three years later, and the pup still meets Auntie Jean almost daily.
He tugs on his leash whenever they pass her street, and if they seem to be walking by her house without a sign of going in, he stops short in the middle of the road and refuses to budge until he gets his way. And of course, Jean loves seeing him just as much!
