Phillip and Dade were living together after having been abandoned in Oregon. They were in terrible shape after having been neglected and mistreated.
The one thing that seemed to keep them going was their love for each other. Multnomah County Animal Services got an anonymous call about them in late October. Officer Sophia Condon responded to the call and found the two dogs tied to a pole. Phillip, the poodle mix, was emaciated and had mats covering his body. Dade had shorter hair, and his poor body condition was easier to see.

Condon was able to get the dogs into her vehicle and take them to DoveLewis Animal Hospital. It didn’t take long for the staff at DoveLewis to see how attached to two dogs were to each other. Dr. Becca Falender, the veterinarian who assessed them, said she could see the strong bond between the dogs the moment they walked in.

The entire staff was moved by their love. Phillip had to be shaved, but Dade wasn’t going to let him face that alone! Neither dog could bear to be apart from the other! Lorri Schinderle, a veterinary technician at DoveLewis, said the two dogs were meant to be together. Happily, both dogs were given a good prognosis despite their poor condition.

Even better news was that after just a few weeks, both Phillip and Dade were adopted by the same family! They will live out their lives side by side! Their new mom, Jennifer, said they sleep in the same bed – even though they each have their own!
