Aaron Kaatz wasn’t expecting to get a new puppy when he left a friend’s house recently. But while walking in a back lane in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he heard faint whimpering coming from a garbage bag sitting next to a dumpster.
As he approached, he noticed the bag was tied in a knot at the top, but he heard the whimpering coming from inside. Cautiously, he ripped the bag open and was taken aback to find a 2 month old German Shepherd puppy inside! The poor little puppy was terrified and cold. Kaatz estimates she must have been there for at least a couple hours. She was filthy and freezing cold.

He recounts, “I was speechless at first, there was a whole bunch of mixed emotions. I was glad I was there to rescue it, but I was mad that it was thrown away in a garbage bag just left there to die.”
He scooped the puppy up and brought her back to his car to warm up.

After bringing her home and giving her a bath, Kaatz decided to name the puppy Elle.
He plans to keep the little puppy as the newest addition to his family. His other two dogs have taken to her and he reports, “
