When a dog is lost, especially one as important as a therapy or service dog, the dog’s family experiences perhaps one of the most gut-wrenching feelings.
Of course, some of these heartbreaking stories don’t end the way we would like them to. Other times, there’s a reunion sure to bring tears to your eyes!
Such a reunion is the one between a veteran and his hero service dog. Hunter Elebash and his black lab Bright have been best friends for over four years.
They spent time together in Afghanistan, Elebash as a soldier and Bright as a bomb detection dog. She saved lives countless times over the years sniffing out IED materials. When Elebash returned home, she became his therapy dog. The two were ‘inseparable’ — until Bright slipped through a six-foot-tall fence!
Elebash knew he had to find her and thank goodness there is a happy ending to this story! A family just two blocks away found Bright!
