Family is forever, or Payday thought before he got lost. The 4-year old dog had stayed with a woman who found him as a stray, but she later brought him to a shelter hoping he would find somewhere suitable.
His time there started off miserably. He was afraid of new situations and had trouble adjusting to his new environment. Though, the staff at the Wisconsin Humane Society thought this adorable, tiny, brown dog would be snatched up by loving parents immediately.
Unfortunately, talk is cheap and no one actually decided to adopt Payday. The media coordinator at the shelter decided to try a new strategy. This involved publicity centered around Payday that would result in finding a new home with someone who was patient enough to help him work through his issues. To their surprise, the staff found more than they had bargained for.
Merely minutes after payday was featured on FOX6 News Milwaukee’s Adopt-A-Pet Segment, a call was made to the shelter. It was a viewer named Dwight calling to say he had recognized the dog. Funny enough, he was awoken by the sound of the broadcast, just as Payday was featured. He recognized his underbite immediately!
Payday was his daughter’s dog! He had gone missing two years ago after getting loose during a night walk. They had searched far and wide with no luck and had missed him terribly. Soon, Payday was picked up at the shelter and as soon as he saw them, he lit up!
He recognized them right away. It was a very touching scene and everyone at the shelter was happy for Payday’s reunion with his family. Now, he’s managed to fit right in, and with regular visits from other relatives, he’s never short of company. He even has two pittie siblings and he fit right in. It’s as if he never left!
