Mom Thanks Her Dog For Saving Her Life

Paula Bialkin and her Wonder Dog, Gracie are residents of a quaint home tucked away in the thriving woods located between Hillman and Atlanta.

With a low population and subsequently sparsely spread neighborhood, they delight in the privacy of their own piece of land. However, the enjoyment they received from their living environment sharply shuffled Paula, a distasteful experience that almost cost her life.

Bialkin, a stroke survivor with a left arm that can’t move by itself, lay on the pavement outside her home a few feet from her door. What made her fall onto the ground, doctors aren’t sure of; but her trauma on a numbingly cold day in April resounds heart-wrenching details. Lying, without a chance to get up on the stairs near her door, sit upright or get in her car nearby to shield herself from the rain and recurring periods of snowfall, Paula had echoing thoughts that this might be her demise.

In fear and discomfort, she persisted in crying out for help; despite the cries tapping on to the groves, bringing in no response for days on end. In the midst of her plight, her bluetick hound, labrador mix Gracie reminds her that she isn’t alone.

The 14-year-old dog, with plenty of personality came by her parent’s side, in the cold weather and lay on top of her. A couple of days later law enforcement stopped by Bialkin’s home as she had missed a doctor’s appointment; an abnormality her doctor reports. They found Paula seemingly unconscious and her dog, a make-shift blanket, covering her in a warm embrace.

The deputy at the scene arranged for Gracie to go to a shelter and Bailkin to the hospital where she was treated for a total of four weeks. After recovering, Paula thanked her rescuers and headed back to her home in the distant green. Regardless of where she stays, her wellbeing is assured by her fair-haired Wonder Dog, who proved that she wouldn’t want harm coming her mother’s way.
