Monmouth County SPCA Rescues More Than 60 Dogs From Middletown Home

Late this month, the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA) received a terrible call.

The caller turned out to be a family member of a cruel person who was running what seemed to be an illegal backyard puppy mill and 60 small-breed dogs, of which some were pregnant and minutes old new-borns, were in dire need of rescuing. The MCSPCA, Middletown Police department, and Middletown Animal control rushed to the scene to try to save as many caged souls as possible as they were not sure what kind of conditions the imprisoned babies were in.

What they found was horrific. Miniscule cages packed with small canines all covered and walking (more like shuffling due to the lack of space) in their own feces and urine. The water in reach, if there was any, was filthy which was especially cruel as the house felt like an oven inside. No one left until every single soul was recovered and brought back to the shelter. The MCSPCA has vowed to make sure the horrible individual responsible for this senseless cruelty receives the highest count of charges available and then some.

All the poor rescued puppers will need medical attention, emergency grooming, spaying/neutering, vaccines, microchips, and foster support. The MCSPCA in Eatontown asks that anyone willing to donate, foster (fostering@monmouthcountyspca.org) or groom (barbara@monmouthcountyspca.org) please get in touch. Any kind of assistance is welcome and appreciated as these 60 puppers deserve better than what they have already been through.
