More Than 50 Emaciated Dogs Rescued From Due West Puppy Mill

A woman from Abbeville County is facing charges after officials seized over 50 emaciated dogs from a Due West, South Carolina hoarding situation. Some of the dogs were severely neglected and found lying in their own urine and feces.

After a large number of complains from different people regarding the horrendous situation of the dogs living in unhealthy conditions, the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit went to investigate a house on George Alewine Road.

A total of 63 dogs were found caged in tiny kennels and many kennels had more than two dogs in them.

The woman who was mistreating all these dogs was unable to provide the officials with any vaccine reports and thus signed all the dogs to the county. This woman will be charged sometime this week.

As for the adoption, Kelley says that it would take some time before the dogs are put up for adoption because first they need to regain their health.

Apart from that, they will be spayed, neutered and vaccinated before they’re rehomed.

Kelley also mentioned, “We need a lot of monetary donations — food donations, blankets,. A lot of the dogs have oral disease, so we need a lot of canned food. A lot of the females are pregnant so we need a lot of puppy food, and then we need adult food.”
