New Recalls Include Dog Food And Popular Treats

There seem to be more and more recalls these days, but the important thing is getting the word out about each of these recalls so no dog ingests anything that could be harmful. This time, the recalls include a popular brand of treats and several dog foods.

  1. Stella & Chewy’s

Stella and Chewy’s is recalling select products from lot number 165-15 as they may be tainted with Listeria monoyctogenes bacteria. The recall includes:

• Frozen Stella’s Super Beef Dinner Morsels for Dogs

Size: 8.5 ounce

UPC: 186011 001554

Lot no.: 165-15

Use By Date: 6/25/2016

• Frozen Stella’s Super Beef Dinner Morsels for Dogs

Size: 4 pounds

Use By Date: 6/25/2016 and 6/26/2016

• Frozen Duck Duck Goose Dinner Morsels for Cats

Size: 1.25 pounds

Although the following products have not tested positive for Listeria, the company is also recalling them because they may have come into contact with the affected lot:

According to the Seattle Times, “The products were shipped to the United States and Canada to wholesale distributors and retail stores for resale to consumers. The best way to determine if you have a product included in the recall is to compare the product description and bag size on the front of the bag, and the UPC, lot code and “use by” date on the back of the bag.

Those who purchased these products are instructed to dispose of the food or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

  1. Bravo

According to Bravo’s website, “Bravo Pet Foods of Manchester, CT is recalling select lots of Bravo Chicken Blend diet for dogs& cats due to concerns of the possible presence of Salmonella.

The recall was initiated after routine testing by the Colorado State Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Salmonella contamination in a single package of Bravo Chicken Blend diet for dogs & cats (2 lb. chub only) made on 11/13/14 with a best used by date of 11/13/16.

The following product is being voluntarily recalled because of the possible presence of Salmonella.

201 cases of this product were sold to distributors, retail stores, internet retailers and directly to consumers in the US.

Nutro’s Chewy Apple Dog Treats have been voluntarily recalled by PetSmart due to a “potential mold” problem. The affected products include:

  • Nutro CHEWY Treats with Real Apples
    Size: 4OZ
    UPC: 7910511344
    Lot Codes beginning with the following numbers and regardless of the Best By date:
    4 50
    5 02
    5 03
    5 05

According to DogFoodAdvisor.com, “Consumers are asked to stop feeding this product to your pet and to bring any remaining Nutro 4 ounce Nutro Apple Chewy Treats affected by this recall to your nearest PetSmart for a full refund.

If you have questions about this voluntary recall, customers are invited to call Nutro Customer Service at 800-833-5330.”

Please check your food and treats and if you believe you have a product that was affected, please do not feed it to your fur kid. Help us spread the word so no fur kid mistakenly eats any of these!
