Obese Pup Loses 74 Pounds With New Family!

Phil is one of the sweetest Golden Retrievers you will ever meet. He had been living in very poor conditions for years. His parents were feeding him way too much, and they weren’t giving him enough exercise.

Because of this, Phil became morbidly obese. At his worst, Phil weighed 150 pounds. He couldn’t walk up the stairs, he had difficulties walking on hardwood without slipping, and he didn’t even fit in a collar anymore.

In 2019, he was rescued by a family in North Carolina. His rescuers were on a mission to help Phil lose weight and have a happier, healthier life. They took him to the vet, who prescribed him an exercise plan and a diet. Phil stuck to it, and he slowly began losing weight. He started being able to do things he could never do before, like jumping on the couch by himself, and even fitting into a collar.

In time, Phil hit really big milestones. He started walking up the stairs, going on long walks, and jumping on the bed. As of now, Phil has managed to shed half of his body weight. He started out weighing 148 pounds, and now he is exactly half that size, weighing 74 pounds. He still has some progress to make, and he needs to stick to eating better and exercising. But with the help of his new parents, he will be able to do that, and he will have the happy, healthy life he deserves, without all those pounds holding him back.
