Officers Help Rescue Blind And Deaf Dog From Sewer

We all know life is full of unpredictable events and sometimes things happen when you least expect it. These unsuspecting dog parents received a stark reminder of this.

Their sweet dachshund, Miss Daisy Mae, who is 15, blind and deaf (poor baby) had fallen into the sewer when a door was left open during renovations. Fearing the worst, this dog mom and dad were terrified that their old girl might’ve conked her head or gravely injured herself during her fall. Distraught and panicked (as any paw-parent would be!) they called North County Police Cooperative for help.

Luckily, raging animal lover Officer LeKamp and Corporal Jost responded instantly and came up with a game plan. A helpful neighbor had informed the parents that Miss Daisy Mae had probably tumbled into the storm drain. Without hesitation the officers opened the offending manhole and found small footprints in the muddy depths of the drain, but…were these the prints of the frightened and disorientated Miss Daisy Mae or a raccoon minding its own business?

Using trusty Google, they confirmed the prints were indeed dachshund and not those of an innocent trash panda. Corporal Jost got down and dirty in the sewer goop where Miss Daisy Mae was tracked 14 feet in!

Being super resourceful, the officers swooped this lost fur-baby off her little tippy-taps using a pool rescue hook and an extender and safely returned her to her tearfully relieved parents who were in awe of how far the officers in their community were willing to go for their baby.
