Ohio Lawmakers Introduce Bill To Make The Labrador Retriever Their State Dog

Ohio is about to join 12 other states in America that have their own state dog. State Representative State Rep. Jeffery Rezabek (R-Clayton) introduced a bill to make the Labrador retriever the pup of the state, and it definitely seems like a fitting match!

Rezabek, who grew up with Labradors, believes that this breed of pup embodies the state of Ohio and its values. It has a love of sports, much like Ohio’s passion for sporting events of all kinds, and it is also a working pup who rivals Ohio’s famous work ethic.

Labradors have also been ranked at the top of the American Kennel Club’s top breeds in America for the past 26 years, so Ohio couldn’t have picked a better pup to make their official state dog! Labradors will join other state animals like the black racer, which is the state reptile, and the Northern Cardinal, which is the state bird.
