It isn’t every day that 100 new dogs appear randomly in an upscale neighborhood of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. But this day was one of those special occasions.
Made from fiberglass, German shepherd statues were set up all over the area as a memorial to K9 officers who had made sacrifices in their duties, become injured, or lost their lives while serving their communities.
Each individual statue was designed in a unique manner by local artists in all sorts of colorful, majestic, and creative ways! Together, these pup statues have become a hit with passersby of all ages, and even real life dogs stopped to take pictures and pose by the grand art displays.
This beautiful project was put together by PAWS Chicago and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and sponsored by kind-hearted members of the community who wanted to support the movement.
Each one of these statues will remain on the streets on display until Labor Day, at which point they will be taken down and auctioned off individually on eBay. Money raised from these sales will go to supporting the families of fallen officers.
Doesn’t this wonderful idea just amaze you? Like and share away!
