PETA Disagrees To Make The Labrador Retriever Ohio's State Dog

Recently ADogsLove talked about how State Representative Jeffery Rezabek introduced a bill to make the Labrador the state dog of Ohio. But now, PETA is objecting this bill.

According to PETA, this bill runs the risk of causing illegal puppy mills to breed Labrador puppies in even larger numbers, which will result in the further abuse of pups used for breeding. They added that it will also result in an influx of more potentially abandoned puppies who may have birth defects or health conditions, which will further pressure overcrowded shelters.

Instead of the Labrador, PETA has suggested that if Ohio would really like to name a pup as their official state dog, that they could go for the mutt – a dog that is all-American, healthy, humble, and in need of a good deal of love from the public. It’s unclear whether Ohio will amend its bill or not. What are your thoughts on this matter?
