Poor Dog About To Die Gets Rescued In Time For A Second Chance At Life

Huskies are a breed that needs a lot of care and attention to thrive. So, when you neglect them, they get worse quicker than a lot of other breeds.

Laura from the This Is Houston organization was noticed about a husky that was laying in someone’s yard. The caller was worried because the dog had collapsed and he wasn’t moving. So, Laura got in a car as quickly as she could, and drove to Cleveland, Texas, to see what she could do to help. After a long drive, she got there, walked into the backyard, and saw the dog. She wasn’t even sure he was still alive.

She approached him, and that’s when she realized the dog was alive. His fur was falling off in patches, exposing skin. He didn’t even look like husky anymore, he was all skin and bone, and looked like he hadn’t eaten in weeks. But somehow, he was still alive. When Laura got near him, the dog barely managed to lift his head.

She immediately called for backup, and when the helpers got there, they loaded the dog, which they would later name Jake, into a van. They drove him to the nearest emergency hospital for pets, which was an hour away. Laura was afraid Jake wouldn’t survive the drive, but, by some miracle, he did. The veterinarians in the ER started their intervention as soon as Jake got there, and it took weeks of intensive treatments for him to begin healing. He started gaining weight and his fur started growing back.

After he reached a healthy enough state, he was placed in foster care, where he didn’t have to stay long before he was adopted. Jake is now thriving in his new home.
