The nation’s leader when it comes to animal welfare is hands down the Best Friends Animal Society, and they are located in Kanab, Utah.
They are a no-kill shelter – the largest one in the United States. One happy story from this past year is about Skully. Skully was diagnosed with cancer and would have had little chance for life if he was at any other shelter. The kind folks at Best Friends were not willing to give up on him and did what it took to help him! He had to have one ear removed and to help him with that, Skully was given special hoods.
Skully loved his hoods, and he loved life! Happily, Skully beat cancer and is now cancer free! With his new lease on life, Skully was ready to have the best Christmas ever! To that end, Skully was given a special treat by his friends at the Best Friends Animal Society. One tradition that the people at Best Friend’s have is to take a sleigh filled with donated toys and treats and pass them out to the animals.
Skully went for a long walk on Christmas morning to find Santa! Once he was there, Skully carefully searched for the perfect gift! Even though Skully had a rough time this year dealing with his illness, his health was perfect just in time for this lovely celebration! Maybe next year, Skully will have his very own family and a home to celebrate in! Happy Holidays!
