Kita was only a puppy when her family passed away, leaving her to fend for herself on acres of property outside. When Cross Your Paws learned about the dog's situation, they knew they needed to help her.
When the rescuers arrived at the property, they found Kita "soaking wet and terrified." The dog was so terrified of people that rescuers had to use a cage to trap her. It was clear that if she was going to ever become comfortable around people again, she needed a loving foster home, and that was what they got for her.
At first, Kita was so scared and unsure of her new foster home that she couldn't even look her foster parents in the eyes. She was afraid of walking, playing, or doing anything.
Thankfully, her foster family was determined to help her, and they patiently worked with her to help her adjust to her new life. Kita was with her foster family for two weeks before she found a forever family. Although she started learning to deal with people in foster care, she still had a long way to go.
In an interview with The Dodo, her adoptive mum said Kita was "very very scared" initially, but her new puppy siblings helped her adjust to her new life. Now, Kita is confident around her family and has learned to trust people.
