Do Your Pups Enjoy Music? Here Are Facts That'll Blow Your Mind!

Some pups love to sing, some pups love to dance, and some pups just enjoy music in general – or at least, they seem to! The question is, what type of music do they really like?

It’s a good idea, as a pup parent, to find out, because distracting noises such as music can aid a fur ball who struggles with separation anxiety or noise phobias. Pups actually process noises and hear very different from humans, so they don’t necessarily enjoy the same tunes we do – and if they do, it may be for different reasons. As we all know, fur balls have excellent hearing, and they can hear noises at higher frequencies much better – this varies by breed, though!

Thanks to the 18 muscles they use to control their ears, they can amplify sounds they hear and locate their origins exactly. So they hear things louder, closer, and better than we do – no wonder those fireworks are so scary to them! It’s important to remember that humans tend to enjoy music that invokes memories – that’s why human voices in music are the ones we respond to. We also respond better to music that mimics our vocal range and heart rate.

So apply this to your pup – which music sounds like his voice? Is he a bigger fur ball with a slower heart rate, or a smaller pup with a faster one? Studies have shown that pups prefer slower music with less complexity! Need music for your pup? Through a Dog’s Ear was developed with fur balls through clinical trials, and has been shown to promote relaxation. But before picking a soundtrack, notice how your fur ball responds to the music.

Do they relax when they hear it? Or do they seem uncomfortable and leave the room? At the end of the day, your fur ball’s reaction is the best indicator of whether they like the music or not! Like and share away, people!
